Broadway events producer Suzanne Tobak shares her mother’s story

I had the privilege of working as Suzanne Tobak’s assistant, planning opening night parties for Broadway shows, not long after I graduated from Cornell. I learned so much from Suzanne. She knows so much about theatre, and is a master at befriending clients as she creates amazing events to celebrate shows. I loved seeing amazing productions, like Rent with the original cast, while I worked for her. Suzanne shared with me how to plan massive events impeccably. Her keen attention to detail inspires me to this day. We have stayed in touch over the years. Suzanne keeps me up to date with the latest news from the theatre world. I always love seeing Suzanne in London. In this photo, we’re visiting the Victoria and Albert Museum back in 2017.

I am so grateful that Suzanne shared her mother’s extraordinary escape from the Holocaust when she was a child on How to Build a Village. Suzanne recommends the following resources for remembering the victims of the Holocaust: the United States Holocaust Museum; the Kindertransport Association; the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University; and the USC Shoah Foundation.
